?????? Client consultations ??????
Yes! Client consultations! Client consultations are a must before starting any lash set. Client consultations are key to not only ensuring you have a guideline to follow while lashing but also that you will have a happy client at the end of your appointment.
I know you’re probably thinking what guideline? The guideline I am referring to is the lash map/lengths you will be using while completing the set.
Based on your clients eye shape, eyebrow shape, and overall facial structure, and lash set desire you will be determining the guideline you will be using.
Each eye shape and eye type has its own lash shape(s) that are the most flattering. Below are a few of the most common eye shapes/types you will come across while lashing:
- Round (large)
- Almond
- Mono
- Hooded (round/almond/mono)
Round eyes are the most flattering with a subtle shape. A soft cat eye, kitten eye, or natural eye are most suitable. Using shorter-medium lengths produce the best results.
Almond eyes are the most versatile eye shape. Almond eyes can have pretty much any lash shape. The shape you choose for almond eyes should be based on your clients desired outcome. Options are: cat eye, kitten eye, doll eye, open eye, Kim K, or natural eye.
Mono eyes are best suited with a cat eye or kitten eye as the lash shape will allow for an elongated appearance. The recommended lash curls are CC and D curl.
Hooded eyes not only require a specific shape but also a specific curl. D curl is recommended for all hooded eyed clients as it assists in helping give the eye a lifted appearance. Doll eye or open eye are the recommended lash shapes as they both provide a lifting effect to the eyes.

Adding client consultations to your appointments will not only make your job easier and ensure a happy client every time, but also ensure that you can take quality content at the end of each appointment for your Instagram feed.
Having quality content & happy clients are two of the main ways you will be able to grow your clientele. Content is one of the main ways you will acquire new clients. Word of mouth from your happy client is another main way. If you can ensure you are able to provide quality content and happy clients you can ensure your clientele will grow.
Client consultations should last up to 5 minutes.
Don’t be afraid to guide your clients. Yes, we must hear them out and take their wants into consideration but ultimately as lash artists it is our job to educate our clients and recommend the most appropriate lash style/set.
Most times clients see specific lash sets on clients with different eye shapes and assume it will be flattering on them as well. Sometimes this works. Sometimes it doesn’t. By completing a consultation prior to beginning, you can filter out the times where a set is not flattering to your clients eyes.
